Saltspine Explorer (Beta)

Saltspine Explorer is a story-driven pirate RPG narrated in real time by a local AI Dungeon Master — not a chatbot, a full game engine underneath it, with deterministic combat, a living economy, faction conflicts, a career system, and a world that keeps moving whether you're there or not.

Build a character across a six-step creator, choose your path — join the Concord Fleet's chain of command, sail as an independent pirate captain, or carve out your own original story — and step into the Saltspine Sea, an original world built from scratch with its own factions, rival crews, and history.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

- The AI Dungeon Master runs entirely on your own PC. No subscription, no per-message cost, and once it's set up, no internet connection needed to play.

- Every choice matters to systems that are actually tracking it — warrant boards, faction standing, crew loyalty, a living world timeline — not just narration dressing.

- Deterministic combat and mechanics mean the AI narrates what happens; it doesn't get to invent outcomes for you.

- A real character creator: background, class, skills, and a personality that the AI actually plays to.

THIS IS A BETA

- The core game — character creation, combat, the living world, the AI Dungeon Master — is fully playable now. It's tagged Beta because the world is still growing: right now you can explore the Dawn Reach starter region in full, with more regions (and new systems) planned for future updates.

- Feedback is genuinely wanted. If something breaks, feels unbalanced, or you just want to say what you'd like to see next, drop a comment.

HEADS UP BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

- Windows only (10/11, 64-bit) for now.

- First launch downloads a private Python runtime and a local AI model automatically — about 6-7 GB total, one time, needs an internet connection. Every launch after that is instant.

- Windows SmartScreen may warn about an unrecognized publisher on first run — that's normal for a small indie release, not a sign of a problem.
